Writing & Speaking English Courses

MJB InterCommunication offers tailored in-house English language writing and speaking courses which will not only improve language skills but also greatly increase the participant's level of confidence when communicating in everyday workplace situations within the private and public sectors.

Our flexible English language training is delivered from a wide range of levels and duration. We provide training for classes, small groups and individuals from elementary to advanced levels. In terms of duration, we can provide half-day, one-day and weekend workshops as well as regular weekly sessions on days and at times convenient to the client. Usually, each session is for a minimum of 90 minutes.

If required, we can jointly work alongside any current internal training team in the client company or a particular public body department. Furthermore, we are able to co-ordinate and supplement courses with any existing training schedules or with client’s own in-house trainers / product knowledge personnel.

All our language courses are adapted to meet the needs of both the participants and the client. We combine the latest knowledge and techniques of English learning with effective delivery by qualified, experienced trainers.

It is important for us to provide an English course which best suits the needs and expectations of the client. For this purpose we have established a clear procedure to ensure satisfaction is guaranteed with the customised training we provide. This same procedure below is also applicable for all our English language courses.

We use the following four-step process:-

  • Assessment - to identify the needs of client and determine learning outcomes.

    Meeting - a pre-course meeting with HR or other management is arranged to discuss the course in more detail.

    Questionnaire - we issue pre-course questionnaires which we ask each trainee to complete.

    Meeting - if possible a meeting with each participant (or as many as possible) is advised prior to commencement of training.

  • Design - the course / workshop outline is drawn up or modified.

    After conducting the assessment, we carefully analyse the information in order to design or finely tune an existing course / workshop outline.

  • Delivery - the way the training outline is implemented.

    We provide tailored, practical and authentic material related to client's type of business or government work nature and this ensures the training is relevant and useful.

    Our English language trainers are qualified, experienced native-English or Chinese speaking professionals who understand well the sort of problems trainees face when using English. Our expert English language trainers place a special emphasis on providing practical English for real-life communication for both commercial and public sectors.

    The training method we utilise is highly interactive with the use of many different teaching aids that includes role-play, pair work, group work, conversation / written / listening based activities, exercises, games, case study, mini-lectures, discussion, presentation, sharing, quizzes, assignments, etc.

    The trainer will provide individual in-class guidance and feedback whenever necessary.

  • Evaluation – measuring the effectiveness of the training.

    Throughout the training period, feedback briefings are given to the client so as to be kept informed and consulted.

    In many of our English language training programmes, participants' English language skills are often assessed in an initial pre-course test and a follow-up test is conducted. This aims to provide to the client some degree of objective measurement of training progress.

    Each participant will be issued with either our own evaluation form or the evaluation tool of the client so as to generate comments about the trainer and the training.

    Effectiveness is further monitored by class observation or visits at any time during the training either by ourselves or the client.

    The client or end user can monitor and evaluate the performance of the participants when they are back at their workplace and to assess if our training resulted in improved performance.

    Client can have the further option of receiving from us a training progress report.

The following workshop descriptions serve only as a reference. Actual workshop will be tailor-made according to the specific needs of the company / public body and participants.

Write Better Business English

The training focuses on most of the important written skills needed in business or for public administration. It will show how to make all forms of business writing significantly clearer with more impact, yet maintaining the professionalism needed when writing common types of workplace correspondence (emails, letters, memos, notices, reports, etc).

There will be tailor-made notes and samples of model correspondence together with many opportunities for writing practice. Attendees will learn how to write in a more professional manner whilst being encouraged to produce their own model writing samples relevant and applicable to their work nature. A special feature includes avoiding common grammatical, style and tone errors in business writing.

This practical, interactive training will help participants write common forms of business correspondence in a positive, clear, reader friendly and result focused manner with professionalism and confidence.

Develop More Effective Speaking Skills

This training is designed to improve fluency and accuracy in speaking English. It is highly practical training that focuses on many real life work situations and provides attendees with the tools they need to communicate naturally in English with complete confidence. Participants will be given many opportunities to speak English in class through role-play, group work, pair work, case studies, games and class discussions.

Participants will improve on their pronunciation and the ability to express themselves better. Furthermore, attendees will gain more self-confidence by knowing they are speaking English correctly and clearly.

The course focuses on acquiring the important English language words, phrases, structures and techniques needed to present with complete confidence. There are many areas covered including help with overcoming the fear of speaking to an audience, structuring the presentation, useful word list, improving pronunciation, voice training, and avoiding the most common English language mistakes made when presenting.

There will be many opportunities for short presentations in class for putting into practice the newly acquired English skills. From these short presentations, valuable feedback with practical tips by the trainer and peers are provided in a safe learning environment. Essential business writing skills needed to produce effective, clear, concise and accurate workplace and technical reports will be introduced. If necessary, we can customise the course to focus on specific types of report writing that includes incident reports, progress reports, quality control reports, technical reports, feasibility reports, formal reports, investigative reports, oral reports, summaries, etc.

Attendees will acquire new skills to structure reports in a modern, reader-friendly writing style.

By the end of this course, participants will have identified and corrected their areas of weakness in writing reports and given the tools necessary to write much better reports in general.

Enhance Oral English for Customer Service Care

No matter if communicating with customers face to face, or by telephone, this training will assist to increase the professional image of staff and the client-company by improving the quality of customer care.
